MCJROTC Rifle Team Parkview Wins in Sectionals, remains undefeated, and Qualifies for State! March 13, 2008 – Parkview's Varsity Rifle team defeated Harrison High School (Kennesaw, GA) 1143 to 1077 to Qualify for State Championship. Shooting in the match where team Captain Melissa Quartarone (personal best score of 294) Elizabeth Olivares, Mark Stuckey, Amanda Korb, Shahzaib Jiwani, and Will Hendricks. The team continued their consistent trend of scores in the 1140's. This will be Parkview's 5th appearance in the State Championship. Every visit has been an improvement: in 2002, Parkview finished 16th, in 2004 - 12th, in 2006 - 11th, and last year's great surprise of 5th place led by Elizabeth Olivares's individual 3rd place finish. Unlike previous years, Parkview is now considered a contender and will be watched by their opponents.

Parkview Wins Area 6! For the first time, Parkview Varsity Rifle team won the Area 6 championship held at Parkview on March 6, 2008. Final scores:

Varsity Rifle Team wins in first round of Area 6 Playoffs and Sets New School Record Hosting the first round of the Area 6 Playoffs, Parkview outshot Collins Hill 1151 to 1094 on February 28. The score of 1151 is a new School Record and the third time this season that the team has broken the previous record. Team members Melissa Quartarone (293, a new personal best), Elizabeth Olivarez (292), Amanda Korb (283), and Shahzaib Jiwani (283), all showed outstanding performances and continued the season's winning streak.

Varsity Rifle Team Finishes Season Undefeated

Parkview's Varsity Rifle Team finished off the 2007-2008 season undefeated with a 5-0 record. Results for the season:

Key to the success of the team this year was great depth. Nine different shooters participated in competition during the season. Senior Elizabeth Olivares, Juniors Shahzaib Jiwani and Mark Stuckey, Will Hendricks, Sophomores Amanda Korb, Chace Stewart, and Team Captain Melissa Quartarone, and Freshmen Elizabeth Allen and Nathan Marks and all competed this year and contributed to the team's success.

MCJROTC Rifle Team places 4th at the CMP Eastern Regional Championships Parkview's MCJROTC rifle team placed 4th amoung Marine Corps Jr ROTC teams from throughout the eastern United States at the CMP Eastern Regional Championships held at Fort Benning. The team scored 2223 . Individual highlights included Melissa Quartarone's overall 4th place finish with a score of 573 that qualified her for the finals. In the finals, Melissa shot a 98.4 to maintain the 4th place finish which qualified her for the JROTC National Championship to be held March 29th at Fort Benning. Another highlight of the match was Paul Cain shooting as an Alternate, scored 530 to finish in 4th for the Alternates.

Practice will be conducted each day from 1530 to 1700, Monday thru Thursday. On home match days, non varsity team members will practice prior to the match. There will be no practice on 14 Feb because the MCJROTC shooting team will be traveling to Fort Benning.

The cost to each rifle team member is $250. This fee will fund the majority of the expenses for the year including the use of school and MCJROTC Booster Association owned equipment. In addition, all new MCJROTC team members are required to purchase a travel package ($150). This includes a JROTC Team garment bag, travel bag, black polo shirt, black t-shirt, and other items that team members wear and carry while traveling.
