Orienteering is a fun and challenging sport which combines reading a detailed topographic map and using a precision compass to navigate your way across unfamiliar, wooded terrain. Flags, called controls, are pre-positioned in the woods at points designated on the map. Your job is to find your way from point to point in the fastest time possible.
Orienteering is open to anyone and everyone. Participants pick their desired course, from Easy to Challenging, and then choose their speed and their own level of competitiveness. It is a great family sport and is an excellent way to spend an afternoon in the woods with your family and friends.
Parkview JROTC Cadets, other Parkview students, friends from neighboring schools, and family members are welcome to join us at our meets.
